The Kim is a handmade ladies’ leather sandal made to order in the Garden Route, South Africa. It is a soft pink, full-grain leather sandal on a rubber sole, cut and stitched by our own artisans rather than assembled on a production line.
Because each pair is made after you order it, the leather is fresh, and the fit settles to your foot within the first few wears.
These sandals are a small fit , if you are between sizes go for a bigger size.
Handmade leather sandals are stiffer than mass-produced ones on the first day. Wear them for two or three short spells before a full day out. After a week the footbed takes the shape of your foot, which is why a well-worn pair of vellies feels better in year two than in month one.
Wipe off dust with a dry cloth, then feed the leather with a neutral leather conditioner every few months, more often in dry Karoo-style heat. Let them dry away from direct sun or a heater if they get wet, and never dry them on a hot surface, which cracks the grain.
My Vellies is a South African workshop making leather footwear in the vellie tradition. Every pair is cut, stitched and finished by hand by our team, and we make to order rather than holding warehouse stock, so nothing is over-produced and every pair is traceable to the people who made it. Buying a pair keeps skilled artisan work in the Garden Route.
Are these real leather? Yes genuine leather upper and sole.
Can I wear them in summer heat all day? Yes. Leather breathes better than synthetic straps, and the footbed moulds to your foot, so they stay comfortable over long days once worn in.
Why is the wait 10 to 20 working days? Because we do not hold stock. Your pair is cut, stitched and finished after you order, in your size.
